Help Elders in India live active, healthy and dignified lives

Currently, there are a projected 138 million elderly in India, with 90% residing outside of the formal organized sector, lacking access to a social safety net. Many live alone without any support from family or friends. American Friends of HelpAge India, a registered 501(c)3 in the US & HelpAge India a registered non profit in India, are a powerful voice for elders, striving to ensure that the elders lead secure and dignified lives. Operating through 26 state offices, HelpAge India provides:

• Healthcare - through Mobile Healthcare Units, vision restoration and cancer care.
• Agecare - through the elder helplines & help-desks, senior citizen care homes, physiocare.
• Livelihoods & Emergencies - through Elder-Self-Help-Groups & linkages with government schemes, and responding during natural disasters through relief & rehabilitation measures.
• Awareness & Advocacy - by championing for elder rights and advocating for age-friendly policies and their implementation, with the central & state governments and at a community level. Conducting awareness sessions on digital literacy & safety, the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act (2007), financial literacy, legal rights & measures for senior citizens among other
