India is home to over 138 million elderly, the majority of whom lack pensions, healthcare, or family support. Many live in isolation—without a safety net, and without the care they deserve.
American Friends of HelpAge India (AFHI), a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the U.S., partners with HelpAge India, a trusted organization with over 47 years of grassroots impact, to ensure elders live with dignity, health, and purpose.
Together, we serve elders across 26 states in India through vital programs:
- Healthcare: Mobile clinics, telehealth, vision care, cancer support, and palliative care
- Agecare: Elder helplines, senior homes, active ageing centers, physiotherapy & mobility aids
- Livelihoods & Relief: Elder self-help groups, access to government schemes, disaster response
- Advocacy & Awareness: Digital safety, financial literacy, elder rights, and legal education
- Nutrition: Regular meals for elders who face hunger and neglect
